Welcome to the Dog and Donkey restaurant in Knowle Village
Budleigh Salterton.
Our Restaurant is in the heart of East Devon on the Edge
of Woodbury Common, between Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton’s Jurassic
Coastline.
We have retained the traditional pub feel in the main bar with a blazing log
fire, complementing with traditional pub food menu.
Our restaurant is spacious and can accommodate around 65 diners.
We do hope you enjoy eating with us today, and are pleased to offer our
New Menu. Some of our old Favorites have remained.
The atmosphere is informal, the service friendly. All our dishes are prepared fresh, using local ingredients wherever possible. Head Chef, owner Richard wishes to produce top quality unpretentious food, beautifully cooked with great attention to detail.
With the seaside town of Budleigh Salterton a mile away, expect daily menu
changes according to the season and what local produce is readily available
Customers are equally at home whether dropping in for a pint of locally brewed Otter Ale or Traditional Bass straight from the cask, a glass of wine or a warming Cup of Fair-trade Fresh Coffee.
The quality of our real ales has been recognized and we have now been entered into the Good Beer Guide 2008
Well behaved children are welcome. Dogs on leads
welcome in the main bar and to the front of the pub where a smoking
area is available and wooden benches.
We have a sunny garden to the rear where only the 2 legged species are allowed
(We do apologize dogs have no access to the rear garden)

How to find us ?
Coming from Exmouth on the B3178, drop down the hill to the roundabout at the top of Knowle Hill, turn Right towards Budleigh and at the bottom of the hill turn left on the B3178, as the road narrows by the houses, slow down! "The Dog and Donkey" is on your right hand side.
Coming from Exeter/Woodbury on the B3179, go straight accross at the roundabout, down the hill turn left on the B3178, as the road narrows by the houses, slow down! "The Dog and Donkey" is on your right hand side.
From Sidmouth/East Budleigh, as you crest the hill from East Budleigh on the B3178, slow down and take the Right Turn. Follow this road for approx one and a half miles (Take care as the road narrows by Tidwell House Farm!!) As you drop down into Knowle village and the 30mph limit, you will see the village hall car park on your left, 500yds on the left is the "Dog And Donkey"
By bicycle, come out from Exmouth via Littleham on the old railway track, now a cycleway, keep going til you reach the end at "Bear Lane", turn right as you exit the track, then right at the main road, luckily you can now freewheel down hill for a refreshing pint and some food to fuel the journey home!
